It is important to know that not all chemical peels are the same! Chemical peels vary widely according to how deep they penetrate into your skin and the concentration of ingredients they contain.

The team at The Calla Clinic are well-equipped to advise which type of chemical peel would be best for you according to your individual skin type, treatment goals and acceptable down-time.

We currently offer three types of chemical peel, each of which have different pros and cons. The best chemical peel for you will be discussed at your consultation.

The Bespoke Alumier Peel

The Alumier peels are a gentle, well-tolerated peel that can help boost your skin radiance, calm skin irritation and help to control break-outs.

The Bespoke Alumier Peel includes an aftercare kit with a cleanser, moisturiser & SPF to help support your skin for the 7 days after your treatment.

FAQs

All of our chemical peels are comfortable, painless treatments. The application process and treatment time varies between each peel. The Biorepeel & The Perfect Peel are performed by our medical team only. The Alumier Bespoke peels are performed by our skin therapists. Each chemical peel slightly varies in the application process and duration it is left on your skin. The treatment process will be thoroughly explained beforehand.

The side effects will vary according to the strength and type of chemical peel you receive. These side effects can range from mild redness, dryness and visible peeling, to more intensive peeling or no side effects at all.

The healing time after a chemical peel will depend on the type of peel you receive, your skin health and any prior skin preparation before your peel (i.e. skin products used beforehand). This usually ranges from 5-7 days before your skin has fully settled. This will also depend on the prior preparation of your skin with the medical-grade skincare, your skin type and previous skin treatments.

It is important to understand that achieving the best results with a chemical peel isn’t just about the peeling process, but how you care for your skin before and after the treatment. To optimise results you should:

  • Use medical grade skincare as advised by the Calla Skin Specialists
  • Avoid UV exposure- including a daily broad spectrum SPF & a hat (no sun on face at all!)
  • Stay hydrated & eat a balanced diet with plenty of antioxidants & sufficient protein intake.
  • Maintain your skin with regular maintenance peels once results have been achieved.

Remember, healthy, radiant skin is a continuous journey- much like keeping a strong, healthy body takes exercise, nutrition & rest. Your skin is no different.
