What Can Be Achieved with CO2 Laser Resurfacing?

  • Reduces fine lines and wrinkles: CO2 laser resurfacing is the gold-standard treatment in reducing wrinkles. It effectively diminishes the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles by destroying damaged skin and allowing your skin to create new, healthy layers with fresh collagen & elastin.

  • Pigmentation: CO2 laser can treat most types of hyperpigmentation as it is able to reach the deepest layers of skin.
  • Improves skin texture & tightens pores: The treatment addresses uneven skin tone, sun damage, and pigmentation, resulting in a more radiant and even complexion.

  • Tightens and lifts skin: CO2 laser ablation stimulates collagen production, leading to firmer, tighter skin with improved elasticity.

  • Reduces scarring: With a controlled ablation of scar tissue, we can significantly improve the appearance of acne scars, keloid & post-surgical scars.

What skin concerns can’t be helped with a CO2 laser?

CO2 lasers can’t treat facial redness, thread veins, acne or rosacea. However, we offer other effective treatments for these conditions including IPL, exosome therapy & chemical peels.

FAQs

The CO2 laser treatment can feel warm and mildly uncomfortable due to the heat of the laser beam. We use a numbing cream and in some cases, in deep resurfacing a local anaesthetic is used to ensure you are as comfortable as possible. Your skin will feel warm for 1-2 hours after treatment. A cool pack or fan can help soothe the skin during this time.

Your safety is always our priority. Our CO2 laser treatment is performed in a CQC registered clinical room with the equipment required to reduce risks such as infection. Fractional CO2 laser resurfacing is a very safe, effective treatment that has been used for skin rejuvenation for many years. It is important that you take care of your skin during the healing process and follow the aftercare instructions provided by our medical team. The risks of this treatment will be explained in detail during your consultation.

The skin healing process will take 5-14 days depending on the depth of laser treatment performed. IImmediately after treatment your skin will appear pink and there will be lots of tiny dots on the surface where the laser beam has created a microscopic injury. You may have mild swelling. Day 2-3 after your treatment the skin will blister and become weepy. Day 4-5 your skin will form scabs and less weeping occurs. Day 6-8 the scabs will fall off and reveal new, pink skin underneath. Day 9-14 the pinkness will fade, leaving new, clear skin.

Your skin continues to heal and restructure for 6-9 months after CO2 laser resurfacing, meaning your skin will continue to produce collagen during this time.

CO2 laser resurfacing helps to create new, healthier skin. Results will last from 2-5 years depending on the number of treatments, the intensity of treatments and how you take care of your skin afterwards. Using medical grade skincare in the long-term is essential to optimise results. We recommend regular maintenance treatments such as facials, microneedling, exosomes, polynucleotides and profhilo.

CO2 lasers can only be used on certain skin-types. Unfortunately CO2 laser cannot be used on asian or black skin due to the risk of pigmentation caused by the laser beam. We also do not recommend CO2 laser if you suffer from acne or rosacea as this can irritate the skin.
