Anti-Wrinkle Treatment

Anti-Wrinkle Treatment at The Calla Clinic in Derbyshire

Anti-wrinkle injections are a popular, non-surgical treatment designed to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

These injections work by temporarily relaxing the facial muscles that cause wrinkles, particularly in areas like the forehead, around the eyes (crow’s feet), and between the eyebrows (frown lines).

The procedure is quick, typically taking only 10-20 minutes, and involves minimal discomfort. Results usually start to appear within a few days and last for 3-4 months, leaving your skin smoother and more youthful-looking. It’s a safe and effective way to achieve a refreshed appearance with little to no downtime.

During your anti-wrinkle treatment, the medication is precisely injected into specific facial muscles by a Doctor or Nurse. The treatment will gradually cause your muscles to relax, which will smooth your skin and soften fine lines. This takes up to 14 days to take full effect. You may require a review appointment at 2-weeks to ensure optimal results have been achieved and this is always included in your treatment cost.

During your consultation, one of our medical professionals will listen to your concerns and goals and following a thorough assessment they will create a bespoke treatment plan. They will also explain how these treatments work and advise whether there are other more suitable treatment options. It’s also your chance to ask plenty of questions in order to make an informed choice about your treatment journey.

The results of anti-wrinkle treatment usually last 3-4 months but for some people it can last longer. The relaxing effect gradually wears off and the full muscle function will return if you do not have any further treatment.

Your safety is always our priority. Anti-wrinkle treatment when used for medical and cosmetic purposes does not cause serious effects such as Botulism as only very small doses are needed. Additionally, when the treatment is injected, it remains within the muscle and does not spread to other parts of your body.

Anti-wrinkle medication is made from a highly purified protein which is created in a lab specifically for medical treatment. This is a prescription only medicine that is regulated to ensure highest standards of safety. For this reason, this medication should always be administered by a qualified medical professional.

Once the medication has stopped working in your muscle your body will break it down into harmless amino acids (the building blocks of protein) and remove it through your kidneys.

Although side effects after botox treatment are uncommon, you can occasionally experience mild swelling, pain, bruising and redness at the injection site. Any swelling or redness usually resolves within 1-2 hours. You may also experience a mild headache or very rarely flu-like symptoms. Possible complications of this treatment will be discussed with you during your consultation.

Anti-wrinkle injections are safe for most adults over the age of 18. However, they are not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding women, those with certain medical conditions, and people who are allergic to botulinum toxin A.
