Harness the Regenerative Potential of Your Own Body
PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) – is a concentrated solution of platelets, derived from your own blood and re-injected into targeted areas where it helps to naturally reduce fine lines, improve elasticity, and support skin repair.
Platelets are rich in growth factors, which act as natural messengers to stimulate cellular repair and regeneration. Indeed, PRP has traditionally been used in wound healing in cases of trauma and joint injury. It’s only in recent years that it has crossed over into for skin and hair rejuvenation.
What it can do
When PRP is injected into the skin, it triggers a cascade of healing processes, which:
- Improves Skin Texture: Reduces fine lines, wrinkles, and refines overall skin texture.
- Increases Firmness: Enhances skin elasticity and tightness for a firmer appearing skin.
- Minimises Scars: Helps to reduce acne scars and other types of scarring by stimulating skin remodelling. PRP can be combined with Dermapen microneedling, Morpheus resurfacing or CO2 laser to achieve best results.
- Radiance: Promotes a healthy, youthful glow by revitalising dull skin.
- Repair sun damage: Can heal your skin from the damage it has been exposed to over years of UV exposure & oxidative stress.
- Improve pigmentation: PRP can reduce melanin production and control inflammation that leads to pigmentation.
- Enhances hair growth: PRP is also being used to treat hair loss by stimulating hair follicles and promoting blood circulation to the scalp, which can lead to thicker, fuller hair growth.

FAQs
Why choose The Calla Clinic for your PRP treatment?
We are passionate about regenerative treatments because these will give the most natural results. Your treatment outcomes will depend on the quality of the end plasma, which is determined by your age, health, lifestyle & the technology used to extract the PRP.
At The Calla Clinic we have selected the Arthrex ACP device to obtain your plasma, which will deliver superior results when compared to other devices because:
- Ensures minimal contamination with red & white blood cells- if some of these cells remain within the PRP it hinders the repair process and negatively impacts results.
- Produces PRP with higher levels of platelets & growth factors compared to other devices.
This results in enhanced tissue repair, faster healing, and more effective outcomes for skin and hair rejuvenation treatments.
What happens during the procedure?
During a PRP skin/hair treatment, a small amount of your blood is taken and placed in a centrifuge to separate the platelet-rich plasma (PRP). The concentrated PRP, rich in growth factors, is then carefully injected or microneedled into targeted areas of the skin. These growth factors stimulate collagen production and tissue repair, promoting healthier, firmer, and more radiant skin. We apply a numbing cream to the treated area to ensure you are comfortable. The procedure takes about 30 to 60 minutes, with minimal discomfort and little downtime.
How many treatments will I need?
For optimal results, 3 to 4 PRP treatments are typically recommended, spaced about 4 to 6 weeks apart. The exact number of sessions can vary depending on individual goals, skin condition, and desired outcomes. After completing the initial series, many people choose to have maintenance treatments every 6 to 12 months to sustain results and keep the skin/hair looking refreshed.
Where can I have PRP injected?
PRP treatment can be performed safely anywhere on the face and body, including the delicate eye area. Common areas treated include eyelids, full face, scalp, neck, arms, hands, abdomen and knees.
Who can’t have PRP treatment?
PRP therapy is a very safe treatment because it utilises your own blood and does not involve adding anything else into your tissue, reducing risks of adverse reactions. However, you cannot have this treatment if you are pregnant or breastfeeding and there may be certain medical conditions that make you unsuitable for this treatment. During your consultation, we will review your medical history in detail and answer any questions you may have, ensuring that your treatment is safe, suitable, and tailored to your needs.
How quickly will I see results and how long do the results of PRP last?
PRP results for skin and hair will take several weeks to become noticeable, with full effects appearing around 3 to 6 months after treatment. This gradual improvement happens because PRP stimulates the body’s natural processes, repairing the damaged skin/hair follicles takes time (consider how long it has taken for your skin to become damaged or your to thin, the repair process needs time). As the growth factors in PRP activate cellular repair and renewal, results continue to enhance over the following months, leading to healthier skin and fuller, stronger hair. Results will usually last 12-18 months- we recommend a maintenance treatment 6-12 monthly to keep your skin/hair as healthy as possible.
What is the downtime?
After PRP treatment the downtime is minimal. You may experience slight redness, swelling, or mild bruising at injection sites, which usually fades within 1 to 3 days. Most people can resume regular activities right after the treatment, with makeup typically safe to apply after 24 hours.
