DESO is one of the treatments we can offer for targeting and reducing these stubborn pockets of fat. DESO uses deoxycholic acid (DCA), a substance already naturally occurring in your body. It is made by your gallbladder to digest fat in your stomach. When injected into targeted areas, DCA disrupts the membranes of fat cells, causing them to rupture and release their contents, effectively destroying these fat cells. The ‘dead’ fat cells are then processed and eliminated by the body’s natural lymphatic system- safely clearing them away.
What it can do
DESCO Fat Dissolving involves injecting Deoxycholic Acid, a naturally occurring bile acid, into targeted areas to break down fat cells.
Once injected, DESO works by emulsifying the fat cell walls, which causes the fat within the cells to break down into liquid form. This liquefied fat is then metabolised and eliminated by the body’s natural processes.
DESO treatments can be used on areas such as the chin, abdomen, thighs, and upper arms, providing a more contoured appearance without the need for invasive procedures. However, results are typically gradual, requiring a series of sessions to achieve optimal results.

How many treatments will I need?

Are there any side effects?
As with every treatment, fat-dissolving injections can come with side effects. These include redness, swelling, bruising, and tenderness at the injection site. These side effects are usually mild and temporary.
Are the results of DESO permanent?
DESO is remarkable in that the results are as good as permanent. But as we saw above, it destroys fat cells and will therefore residually prevent new fat cells from forming. That means that if you do then go on to gain weight, it may appear in other areas of your body. We therefore recommended that, along with a DESO treatment, you also follow a healthy diet and exercise programme to broadly maintain the appearance you have today.
