A bespoke selection of high quality, active ingredients are delivered to your skin during the Dermapen treatment. When combined with active ingredients, such as hyaluronic acid, peptides, antioxidants, retinol or vitamin C, microneedling enhances the absorption of these products by allowing them to penetrate deeper into the skin. How many treatments do I need?
The number of treatments you need will depend on your individual skin concerns and what you would like us to achieve. We always recommend a minimum course of 3 treatments, but you may need up to 6 sessions depending on the health of your skin and any specific problems we are trying to address.
When you have achieved your desired results we recommend a regular maintenance treatment every 3-6 months.
Our team will be very happy to talk you through realistic outcomes and expectations during your consultation- most patients see noticeable results after 3-6 treatments. The collagen stimulating effects continue for several months after treatment but it is important to continue to work on your skin regularly to maintain results.
What is the downtime after Dermapen microneedling?
There is very little downtime associated with Dermapen microneedling. Your skin will look red for the first 12-24 hours, you may also experience mild dryness for 2-3 days after treatment. We can provide a sample of a sterile, mineral make-up that can safely cover redness whilst your skin heals for the first 24 hours.
Is Dermapen microneedling painful?
Depending on the ingredients we use for the microneedling we may recommend this treatment without numbing cream to ensure optimal results. The treatment can feel slightly stingy but is over very quickly and is very well tolerated. When numbing cream is used, the treatment is completely painless.
How do I achieve the best results from my Dermapen microneedling treatment?
The goal of microneedling is to switch on the activity of your collagen making cells and improve skin cell renewal and repair. The way you care for your skin daily, including the products you apply will make a huge difference to the results you achieve.
