Stretch Marks

Stretch marks are long, thin lines that appear on the skin. They develop when the skin stretches too quickly beyond its ability to adjust. Stretch marks consist of scarring within the deep layers of skin where the skin’s stretchy fibre called elastin has been torn and damaged. Stretch marks are common and can often develop during puberty or pregnancy, but can also occur due to sudden changes to our body.

Stretch Marks Treatments

The approach to treating stretch marks is to repair some of the damaged skin and encourage the skin to produce new collagen and elastin. This helps to reduce the appearance of the stretch marks, making it less noticeable.
